For the first time in Africa, the Africa Digital Rights Hub (ADRH), in partnership with PICCASO, is hosting the PICCASO Awards Africa at the 2025 Data Protection Africa Summit.

How much does it cost to enter?

Absolutely nothing!

The PICCASO Awards Africa are completely free to enter, and you're free to enter as many categories as you like!

Can I enter more than one category?

Providing you meet the criteria for each category, yes! You're free to enter as many as you like.

What are supporting documents?

The supporting documents are not a compulsory part of the application. It won't count against you if you do not include any, but they can help to illuminate your entry.

Supporting documents could be testimonials, examples of press coverage, explainer videos, or impact reports, for example.

What is the entry deadline?

Deadline for entries is Friday 19th September 2025

What questions are on the application form?

1. Tell Us About the Nominee or Team

Use this space to introduce the nominee by describing their role, the work they do, and the type of organisation they are part of. (2500 Characters Max)


2. Please provide a concise overview of your nomination.

This summary should briefly outline the achievements, innovations, or contributions that support this nomination. Please note, if your nomination is shortlisted, this summary may be published. (1500 Charcters Max)
3. What has the nominee achieved in the last 18 months, and what was new or innovative about their work?

Describe the key achievements, initiatives, or contributions made by the nominee. What did they do that was different or ground-breaking? What specific challenges or problems did they face, and how did they overcome them? Why was this work important to their organisation, sector, or community? (3500 Characters Max)
4. What impact did this work have, and what were the results?

Explain the outcomes of the nominee’s work. What measurable results or meaningful changes were achieved? How did this work create value for the organisation and its stakeholders? What lasting difference has it made, and how have things changed as a result? (3500 Characters Max).

Can I alter my application after submitting?

Yes, you can make changes to your application after submitting right up until the entry deadline. Please email rachel@grcworldforums.com if you need to edit.

How are the winners chosen?

Following the shortlisting process (which is done internally by our editorial team), the successfully shortlisted applications will be handed over to our judging panel.

The PICCASO Awards judging panel has supporters from multiple sectors, with each of our judges allocated to categories that match their areas of expertise.

Entries will be judged based on the answers provided within the application form, The judges will mark each question and give a rating out of 10, along with comments to justify their scoring.

As with any judging process, there is an element of subjectivity around judging, so applicants should aim to provide as much information as possible.

Judges will review applications independently.
