Celebrating Global Leadership in Privacy, Security, and Compliance

For the first time in Africa, the Africa Digital Rights Hub (ADRH), in partnership with PICCASO, is hosting the PICCASO Awards Africa at the 2025 Data Protection Africa Summit.

The Africa Digital Rights’ Hub (ADRH) is a not-for-profit think tank registered and based in Accra, Ghana that advances and promotes research and advocacy on digital rights across the African continent. We are interested in the impact of digital technology on people living in Africa. The Hub therefore brings together academic researchers, stakeholders, policy makers, regional and international bodies to address digital rights issues on the Continent. We seek to develop and promote ‘afro-centric’ solutions based on empirical evidence gathered through research. This is to ensure that Africans are not left behind as far as the protection and guarantee of fundamental rights are concerned in the 4th Revolution.

PICCASO is a UK-based, globally focused non-profit special interest group, led by experienced volunteers who are senior leaders in privacy and data protection. Among its key initiatives is the PICCASO Privacy Awards, an event held across the UK, Europe, and beyond to recognise excellence and innovation in data privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, and data ethics. The awards spotlight individuals, teams, and organisations driving meaningful change and setting global standards.

This landmark event will celebrate African excellence in privacy, data protection, and governance, honour the contributions of DPAs, privacy professionals, civil society, and innovators, spotlight homegrown solutions and Indigenous leadership, and promote Africa’s growing influence in global digital governance.
